Hello All,Todd_BW2

For the past month it seems as though every time I open the Bible the Lord leads me to passages dealing with our relationship with the Holy Spirit.  As I was praying about this week’s email the Lord reminded me of a couple of the passages that I referenced in last week’s email.  The first passage is found in 2 Corinthians…

2 Cor 1:20-22
20 For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us. 21 Now He who establishes us with you in Christ and has anointed us is God, 22 who also has sealed us and given us the Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.   NKJV

This passage has some awesome truths to ponder…we are established in Christ, anointed by God and sealed by the Holy Spirit.  What a beautiful picture of the Trinity working together to establish, anoint and seal the believer.  As you look back at vs. 20 you see that all of the promises of God “in Him” are “Yes, and in Him Amen.”  In Christ Jesus we have access to all of the promises of God…of those promises; the most important is the Holy Spirit…because it is by Him that we have access to the Father.

Eph 1:18
18 For through Him we both have access by one Spirit to the Father. NKJV

In Acts chapter two Peter stood up on the day of Pentecost and declared that what everyone had seen and heard was the “promise” of the Spirit being poured out on the believers…

Acts 2:32-33
32 This Jesus God has raised up, of which we are all witnesses. 33 Therefore being exalted to the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He poured out this which you now see and hear. NKJV

He is the third person of the Trinity…the Holy Spirit of promise…that the Father has sent to seal those who have put their trust in Jesus…

Eph 1:13
13 In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, NKJV

I want to define the Greek word for sealed, that we have seen in these passages.

Sealed – NT:4972 – sfragizoo for security: to confirm, authenticate, place beyond doubt (Thayer's Greek Lexicon)

We are given His Spirit to secure, confirm, authenticate and place beyond doubt our relationship with Him.  I don’t know about you, but that is most definitely the most important promise to me…to know that I am His and He is mine.  Everything else just pales in comparison.

I love you all and can’t wait to see you on Sunday,
Todd
