Hello All, Over the past few weeks the Lord has been speaking to my heart about the power and importance of the Holy Spirit in our lives. When we take time to examine the scriptures we can see that they are replete with references of His importance to us. It begins with salvation, because Jesus said to Nicodemus that we must be born of the Spirit if we are going to enter His kingdom…
John 3:5-7 5 Jesus answered, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. NKJV
We enter into relationship with the Father by the blood of Jesus and through our union with Him we are sealed with the Holy Spirit.
2 Cor 1:21-22 21 Now He who establishes us with you in Christ and has anointed us is God, 22 who also has sealed us and given us the Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee. NKJV Eph 1:13 13 In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, NKJV
Think about that for a minute, God the Father places His Spirit in us and seals us as His very own. That should excite us beyond words and it should raise the perception of our value to the world. Let me clarify what I am saying…God, placed His Spirit in us…therefore we should never see ourselves as “mere human beings” we are carriers of God Himself and we are destined to make an impact on this world. We must understand that the same power that raised Jesus from the dead now resides in us through the person of the Holy Spirit…
Rom 8:11 11 But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you. NKJV
Wow, Paul said that the same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead now lives in us and gives life to our “mortal” bodies. That isn’t a promise for the future…it is a declaration over our present. He, the Holy Spirit, lives in us and desires to lead and guide us in this life. As a matter of fact Paul said in Romans that the children of God “are led by the Spirit of God…”
Rom 8:14-17 14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. 15 For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, "Abba, Father." 16 The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, NKJV
It is for this reason that we must allow the Holy Spirit to be the leader of our lives…Because it is then that we will live beyond ourselves and impact the world in which we live. I love you all and can’t wait to see you on Sunday, Todd
