Hello All,Todd_BW2

Have you ever had one of those weeks where you felt like you couldn’t catch up…you know…it seems like the harder you work the further you get behind?  It is in those times that we have to look to the Word of God and put into practice the truths that we have learned.  One such truth is very familiar, yet cannot be overlooked, if we find ourselves in this place…

Phil 4:6-7
6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. NKJV

The power behind this passage is the reality that our strength and stability comes from our relationship with Father God.  As we draw close to Him and commune with Him we receive of His essence…which is peace.  I believe that one of the shrewdest tactics of the enemy is to get us busy and anxious.  When we are busy, we are giving our attention to many things, but we are not truly focused on anything.  I believe that it is during these times that the Lord says to us…be still and know that I am God…

Ps 46:10-11
10 Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!
11 The Lord of hosts is with us; The God of Jacob is our refuge.  NKJV

When we make a decision to be still before the Lord we allow His peace to “guard our hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”  I want to clarify what I am saying…to be still doesn’t mean that we sit around and do nothing…it does mean that we take time to focus on the One who is with us…“the Lord of hosts…our refuge.”  However, not being anxious and choosing to be still is not the end…once we get our perspective back where it belongs, we must take the next step, which is to stir ourselves up…

2 Tim 1:6-7
6 Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands. 7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. NKJV

Paul is reminding Timothy to stir up what is in him…in essence he is telling him to remember what has been placed on the inside of him…which is the Spirit of power, love and a sound mind.   Just as Paul instructed Timothy, let’s stir ourselves up and allow His peace, power and love to guard our hearts and minds.

I love you all and can’t wait to see you on Sunday,
Todd
