Purity PDF Print E-mail

Hello All,toddmartin

Over the past few weeks the Lord has been speaking to me about our faith being effective, in this world, and the important part that purity holds in that equation.  When we hear the word “purity” our minds are drawn to our actions instead of our heart.  Don’t get me wrong, actions are connected, but they are the fruit and not the essence of purity.  The essence of purity is a heart that is saturated with the presence and love of God.  To clarify this I want to define purity…

Purity – 1) the quality of state of being pure. 2) saturation (Merriam-Webster)

Webster’s dictionary states that purity has to do with saturation…so, I looked up saturation from a link in their definition…

Saturation – the act of being saturated; satiety (being full beyond capacity) (Merriam-Webster)

So, purity is a result of being saturated beyond capacity with the love and presence of God.  It is not the ability to “keep” ourselves; rather it is the ability to lose ourselves in Him…

Eph 5:18-19
18 Don’t get drunk with wine, because it makes you lose control. Instead, keep on being filled with the Spirit… CJB

As we “keep on being filled with the Spirit” the natural response is a life that is pure before God and man.  I want to make it clear that our purity before God is completely based on what Jesus did for us and not what we do for Him…

1 Cor 6:11
11 And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God. NKJV

We are pure before Him because of Jesus’ blood and His sacrifice

Heb. 10:12-14
12 But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God, 13 from that time waiting till His enemies are made His footstool. 14 For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified.

We have been made pure in the eyes of the Father by the Blood of Jesus…and I believe that the Lord is lifting up those who will walk before “people” with purity.  As we live, captivated by is Love and saturated with His presence, we will demonstrate a lifestyle that causes other’s to look on and desire our Savior.  As we focus our attention on Him and get saturated with His presence, we will see the “impurities” leave and we will “walk worthy” of our Lord Jesus…Col 1:9-14.

Let’s purpose to live a life of purity…which, I believe, is what all of creation is groaning for the son’s of God to reveal in the earth (Rom 8:19, 22).

I love you all and can’t wait to see you on Sunday,
Todd
