Hello All,
I want to add to what seems to be a theme of my emails and sermons here lately…expectancy. This week the Lord has continued to speak to me about expectancy, but this time He came at it from a different perspective. He said that a truly expectant heart will declare, or speak, what it believes...that is why Christianity has been called the “Great Confession” because through our believing and confessing, that Jesus is Lord, we are Born Again…
Rom 10:9-10 9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. NKJV
But, the importance of our confession doesn’t end there…it only begins…that is why we are told to hold fast our profession/confession of faith without wavering...
Heb 10:22-23 22 Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for He is faithful that promised;)
This is where our believing comes in to play, because whatever we believe is what we are going to be speaking. If we believe that God’s word is true…in spite of the circumstances…then we will confess it from a heart of expectancy…
2 Cor 4:13 13 And since we have the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, "I believed and therefore I spoke,"* we also believe and therefore speak, NKJV
In context, the above passage is preceded by a declaration that we have a treasure in this body, which is, the power of God at work in us (vs. 7) and it is the power of God in us that gives us the ability and authority to speak our faith. The passage following vs. 13 says we should set our attention on the unseen realm and not on the seen/visible world which is temporal and fading (vs. 18). Why is that important to us…because we can see from 2 Cor. 4 that no matter what life throws at us… “we have the same spirit of faith…and…we also believe therefore we speak.” That is why Proverbs tells us to guard our hearts, because from it comes the issues of life…
Prov 4:23-24 23 Keep (guard) your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life. 24 Put away from you a deceitful mouth, and put perverse lips far from you. NKJV
So, let’s fill our hearts with faith and expectation as we confess His goodness, mercy and grace. As we do, we will lay the foundation for a visitation of the tangible presence of God. I love you all and can’t wait to see you on Sunday, Todd
