Lifestyle of Expectancy PDF Print E-mail

Hello All,

Well it has been a very busy couple of weeks, but I am excited that we have a new year in front of us.  I have great expectation for what God is going to do through us individually and corporately.  This past Sunday we had an amazing time with the Lord and I really believe that it was just the first fruits of what He is going to do in our midst this year.  As I said Sunday, the thing that the Lord keeps bringing to my heart is the lifestyle of expectancy.  I said “lifestyle” because I believe that expectancy should be the pattern by which we set our lives.  Let me illustrate with a very familiar verse…

Eph 3:20

20 Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, NKJV

This says that God is able to do “exceedingly abundantly above” what we ask or think…or you could say…all that we expect.  It goes beyond mental assent, to the place that we expect God to do what His word says He will do.  It is that belief, which is not moved by circumstances, that breeds expectancy in our hearts and releases the power of God….aka…Faith!  Faith released through a believing heart produces a life that no foe can withstand.

Mark 11:23-24

23 For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, 'Be removed and be cast into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says.  24 Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them. NKJV

As we pattern our lives, after the belief that God can and will do what His word says, it opens the door for God to do the “exceedingly abundantly above.”  I am not sure what 2010 held for you, but I do know that 2011 can be far above what we can comprehend if we determine to live a lifestyle of expectancy.  Let’s purpose in our hearts to face each day with the anticipation that God is going to show up big in our lives and watch how it affects us…and those around us.

I love you all and can’t wait to see you on Sunday,

Todd
